The space between two closets: Erin Parisi mountaineering and changing the trans* narrative

Erin Parisi is attempting to become the first trans* person ascent highest mountain on each of seven continents, through her project TranSending 7. seeks create alternative narratives that are based possibility positive futures, as opposed negative tropes a limited life from decision transition. Multiple semi-structured interviews were conducted with understand experiences and how she hopes present, not only impact upon own sense self, health well-being but also present opportunities for others. Data analysed via reflexive thematic analysis. Analysis highlights paradox many people in moving one closet another, where being invisible ultimate goal. Erin’s desire shape acknowledge gendering practices take place within climbing community having ‘earn right climb’. endeavours demonstrate an way individuals can be situated ‘in sunshine’ between these two spaces, personal growth possible rich, meaningful, progressive.
